The lotus flower is a widely known symbol for spiritual awakening (enlightenment). We chose black because personal growth is not all sunshine and unicorn glitter. The path to happiness involves confronting our deepest fears, triggers, dark shadows and (often unconscious) traumas.

Unlike spiritual brands that aim to be all “love and light”, The Black Lotus holds space for people to do real, raw inner work. In essence, shadow work, which means allowing yourself to fully feel whatever comes up, including the 'darker' emotions like anger or sadness.

Most of the lotus flower is hidden from our view beneath the water’s surface. We see the beautiful flower floating on top but not the long roots, stems and dirt underneath. It’s a great analogy for ourselves. A huge part of us lies beneath the conscious mind. It’s the part we tend to hide from others, and sometimes even from ourselves.

The Black Lotus symbolizes the healing and integration of these shadowy parts of ourselves, to step fully into our power and purpose. It’s the death of your ego, and the rebirth of the real you.
